So, the whole design was kept very sleek, and we simply added some very fine crystal work around the neckline, which made a huge difference. The fit was very good indeed, and the gown had a lovely flattering shape; the long train, of course, added that extra bit of drama.

It’s not necessarily about adding more to the design. It can be as simple as getting the little things right.

From an Idea to a Custom-Made Gown

Creating a custom gown is always a process. First, there is an idea. Then comes the fabric selection, the design, the fit, and all those small details that bring everything together.

For Anumol’s gown, we wanted the velvet to be the main highlight. Its deep wine colour already had a strong presence, so the rest of the design had to complement it rather than compete with it.

We designed the upper half of the dress without sleeves and with thin straps for a simplistic design. There was embellishment of crystals at the neck area for some shininess, and there was a tight fit at the top that made the dress what it was. As for the skirt, it flowed perfectly downwards, finishing with a long train.

In retrospect, this combination has worked great. The dress is detailed enough to make an impression yet remains stylish and elegant.
